Timothy Macura, LMT
Biograpy
I became a Licensed Massage Therapist (LMT) in the spring of 2017 and have been practicing consistently ever since. I had career paths first in martial arts and later in manual labor and logistics before venturing into this vocation. Having spent many years in such physically demanding occupations, I carry not just the valuable lessons I’ve learned through them, but understand the profound impact they can have on the body in the form of both physical and mental stress.Shortly after graduating from massage school, I focused my continuing education around orthopedic massage. As I continue to practice this form of bodywork I have additionally concentrated my education in craniosacral and lymphatic therapy, seeing now that having a strong understanding of these systems is critical to effective treatment.I have a personal passion for health and wellness that stemmed out of my own personal experiences struggling with the pains and conditions of physical work. Seeing how my own body was showing the beginning signs of illness I’d seen manifest in so many others around me, I sought for answers. My wife experiences her own challenges as well, with chronic neurological issues. These have been a driving force for seeking the most effective skill sets to providing myself, my family, and others with optimal wellness.Outside of bodywork, I reside in Netcong, NJ with my wife of seventeen years and my three and a half year old daughter. Together we enjoy exploring parks, playgrounds, and historical sites as well as drawing, coloring, cooking, reading books, watching Bluey and Spiderman, keeping up on current events, and watching the trains go by.
Style
My primary focuses of practice are in orthopedic massage and craniosacral therapy, both of which I hold numerous certificates in and am steadily moving towards full certification.Orthopedic massage has a strong ability to target the aches and pains of repetitive stress that our bodies endure though physical work, sports, recreation, and sedentary occupations. As with all bodywork I believe it is supplementary to and most effective with a healthy lifestyle.Additionally, I am fully qualified to do prenatal massage. This work is designed to be gentle and relaxing, taking into consideration the needs of the individual during this time while still being able to target areas of discomfort with a safe and effective approach.Less familiar to many is Craniosacral Therapy (CST). The simplest explanation for CST is that it is a light touch therapy that engages the body to promote self-regulation and self-healing. The Craniosacral system involves the production and reabsorption of Cerebral Spinal Fluid (CSF) and includes the meninges, central nervous system, lymphatics, and the fascial network. CST can be an excellent tool to help bolster your health, well being, and cognitive function regardless of what walk of life you come from, though it can be especially valuable to those experiencing substantial health challenges such as cancer and neurological disorders, as well as an effective postnatal treatment. It is gentle, relaxing, noninvasive, and the client remains fully clothed during the session.
